Eating fruit and vegetables is so good for you, but is too much of a good thing, still a good thing? Eating fruit in moderation is important because some fruits are high in fructose, which for some people is hard for the digestive system to break down and can cause bloating, increase insulin levels and cause weight gain when eaten in excess. Avoid eating high amounts of apples, figs, apricots, lychees, nectarines and mangos. Don’t get wrong me I am not saying you cannot eat these fruits because eating fruit supplies us with key nutrients such as- vitamins, minerals and of course fibre keeping your digestive system and metabolism healthy. The saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” is still true in my book, just ensure you are not over doing it. I would recommend 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of veg per day is the perfect guide to a well balanced, healthy diet!
